Just off of Congress Street in Boston’s Fort Point Channel neighborhood, you’ll find Flour Bakery and Cafe, which is a popular place near Waterside Place to grab a quick bite for the road, have a breakfast meeting with a client, or stop for a coffee and dessert while on a date.
Flour Bakery is owned by Joanne Chang, a renowned baker and a rising star among American chefs who has recently been a regular figure in national magazines and on television programs. But Chang is not an absentee owner interested only in doing media appearances—since she opened the first Flour Bakery in 2000, she has worked hard to build the bakery’s reputation among Bostonians. In the past 15 years, the chain has expanded to four locations, and has been named the best bakery in the city several times over.
